The All Progressives Congress (APC) recently unleashed a scathing attack on the leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), holding them responsible for Nigeria’s longstanding issues of poverty, underdevelopment, and general suffering. In a fiery statement, Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, did not mince words as he accused the opposition coalition’s leadership of being nothing short of political villains who had contributed to the country’s woes over the years.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s program “Lunchtime Politics,
” Morka labeled these leaders as individuals who had missed golden opportunities to uplift the nation when they were in power. He pointed fingers at key figures within the ADC, emphasizing their roles in perpetuating Nigeria’s cycle of poverty and underdevelopment.
Morka singled out former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for severe criticism, highlighting his tenure chairing crucial committees that could have made significant positive changes but allegedly resulted in failure instead. He cited Atiku’s public admission regarding failed attempts at reforming the power sector as a clear indication of his shortcomings.
“
Atiku himself chaired critical committees that could have offered Nigerians the opportunity for a better life, but he confessed publicly that their attempt to reform the power sector ended up in a fiasco,” Morka alleged.
Moreover, Morka referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s memoirs to further bolster his claims about Atiku’s detrimental contributions to Nigeria’s challenges. The APC spokesperson didn’t stop there; he also directed criticisms towards other notable opposition figures such as former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai. According to Morka, these individuals squandered their chances to make meaningful improvements during their time in power.
In a damning assessment of these political figures’ track records, Morka asserted that they had been entrusted with authority but failed miserably in utilizing it for national progress. The narrative painted by Morka depicted a landscape marred by missed opportunities and unfulfilled promises from those expected to steer Nigeria towards prosperity.
This verbal onslaught from the APC serves as a stark reminder of how deeply entrenched politics can be in shaping a nation’s trajectory. It underscores the importance of accountability and effective governance in steering countries away from stagnation and towards growth and development. As political rivalries continue to fuel debates and discussions across Nigeria’s landscape, it remains crucial for leaders on all fronts to prioritize national interests above personal agendas.
