Nigerias Military Strikes Back Countering Gunmen in Two Regions

Nigeria has been a hotspot for military and security operations as authorities report the successful elimination of armed men in both the northwest and northeast regions of the country. In a bid to curb rising violence and instability, Nigerian forces have taken decisive action against these threats.

“In separate operations, security forces managed to neutralize at least 30 gunmen following armed attacks in the volatile northwest,”

announced Nasir Mua’zu, Katsina state’s commissioner for internal affairs. The assailants, described as “criminals,

” were reportedly targeting three villages when they faced the wrath of government forces.

A joint effort by the police and military was swiftly launched after several villages came under attack by hundreds of armed men. Tragically, amidst the clashes, a civilian, two soldiers, and three policemen lost their lives. However, Mua’zu highlighted the success of the security forces in repelling the attackers and dealing a significant blow to criminal elements through well-coordinated air strikes.

Our gallant security forces successfully repelled the attackers… Thirty of the criminals were neutralized through coordinated air strikes as they attempted to escape,

” stated Mua’zu reassuringly. He emphasized ongoing efforts with federal security agencies to prioritize citizen safety amid escalating tensions.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria’s troubled northeast region, military operations led to the “

neutralization

” of 24 armed fighters over several days of intensive actions. The army disclosed that Nigerian troops received crucial air support while collaborating with local forces to eliminate combatants affiliated with Boko Haram and ISIL’s West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Reuben Kovangiya, an army spokesperson overseeing military operations, underscored the significance of these strategic offensives. “

The neutralization of 24 insurgents with close air support underscores our determination…to create a conducive environment for socioeconomic activities in North East region,” Kovangiya explained proudly.

The northeastern part of Nigeria has endured relentless attacks from various armed groups since the early 2000s. Notorious groups like Boko Haram have inflicted widespread terror upon civilians, resulting in thousands of casualties and displacing millions over years of conflict.

In parallel developments across central and northwest Nigeria, criminal gangs continue to sow chaos through banditry and violent activities. Particularly within Katsina state lies a landscape plagued by gangs known for deadly raids, kidnappings, looting sprees culminating in arson – leaving communities devastated.

These criminal elements find sanctuary within forested areas spanning multiple states – Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna in northwest Nigeria plus Niger towards central regions – using them as bases for nefarious activities including mass abductions notably targeting school children.

Just recently state officials brokered peace accords with numerous bandit leaders seeking respite ahead of forthcoming planting seasons; however, challenges persist despite these efforts towards stability.
