Ohanaezes Critique of Amaechi Upholding Electoral Integrity and Zoning Principles

The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo recently engaged in a spirited dialogue with former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, over his comments directed at INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. In a fiery statement on Channels Television, Amaechi criticized Yakubu for allegedly impeding the registration process of new political parties and likened him to past INEC officials.

Reacting to Amaechi’s remarks, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, expressed strong disapproval. He emphasized that individuals like Amaechi should reflect on their contributions to the country before casting aspersions on others. According to Okwu, criticizing Yakubu while ignoring his accomplishments in conducting free and fair elections is unjustified.

“It appears that Amaechi and his ilk have conveniently forgotten how under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s leadership, we witnessed a shift in electoral dynamics where incumbents lost seats,”

remarked Okwu. He highlighted the increased transparency in election outcomes under Yakubu’s stewardship and stressed the need for legislative support to enhance electoral processes further.

Furthermore, addressing concerns about the 2027 election cycle, Okwu took aim at Amaechi’s political ambitions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He questioned Amaechi’s commitment to equity and zoning principles by juxtaposing his actions with professed beliefs. Okwu cautioned against trusting individuals driven solely by personal aspirations rather than genuine public service.

“How do you trust a man who claims allegiance to certain ideals one day only to pursue personal gain the next?”

questioned Okwu regarding Amaechi’s shifting allegiances based on political expediency. He underscored the importance of discerning true intentions behind political maneuvers and urged Nigerians to be vigilant against deceptive practices.

In conclusion, Okwu called for a rejection of self-serving politicians like Amaechi and advocated for a more discerning electorate aware of manipulative tactics.

“Nigerians must say no to Ameachi and his cohorts; we deserve leaders committed to our collective progress,”

declared Okwu emphatically.

As debates surrounding electoral integrity and ethical governance continue to evolve within Nigeria’s political landscape, voices like Ohanaeze Ndigbo serve as crucial advocates for accountability and transparency in public office. Their engagements shed light on pertinent issues shaping democratic processes while encouraging citizens to demand principled leadership from their representatives.
